I believe I can achieve Greater Regional Cooperation to the benefit of Tauranga and my work on APEC speaks to my leadership abilities.
Don’t just take my word for it though. Meet David Toua (immediate past Chair of the APEC Business Advisory Council) and my colleague Katherine Rich (National Party MP, 1999 - 2008).
“I first met Tenby Powell in Papua New Guinea in early 2017 when he was working with the PNG Defence Force. It was around this time that Tenby was appointed to the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) by Prime Minister John Key.
Tenby has been a significant contributor to the APEC forum on behalf of New Zealand, and has been a strong advocate for small business and inclusiveness. His qualities of leadership, humanity and passion have been very self-evident in all of his interventions and contributions.
Tenby concludes his term with ABAC at the end of the year. His contribution has been greatly appreciated and he will be missed. I know he will make an outstanding contribution in his next role.

“Tenby works hard for New Zealand locally and internationally as a strong advocate for small business owners and exporters. He loves to see New Zealand products doing well in export markets. Tenby volunteered to join me on a number of visits to supermarket retailers around Asia. His tireless positivity and energy builds connections and gets things done.”
